Is a will made with Simply Will legally binding?

Our wills are structured to meet the requirements of the Wills Act 1837, and can be legally binding once correctly signed and witnessed by two eligible witnesses. We can't guarantee that any individual will is free from challenge, particularly where circumstances are complex — Simply Will is not a law firm and doesn't provide legal advice.

Is Simply Will available on Android?

Not yet — Simply Will is available now on iPhone through the App Store, and the Android version is coming soon.

How long does it take?

A straightforward will can take as little as 10 minutes. You can save your progress and return at any time — there's no pressure to finish in one sitting.

Can I update my will after I've paid?

Yes. Your first 12 months of updates are included with Complete. After that, you can add a further 12 months of updates for £9.99 whenever you need them. It's entirely optional and never renews automatically — and letting updates lapse never affects the will you've already made.

What is Vault Validation?

It's an optional add-on coming in a future update. It will let your named executor request access to your vault when the time comes, with every request manually reviewed against a death certificate before anything is unsealed. It isn't available in the app yet.

What happens to my data?

Your data is encrypted with AES-256 encryption. Your will and vault documents are stored exclusively in UK data centres — a small number of trusted providers (such as payment processing) may handle limited data like purchase records outside the UK, always under GDPR-standard safeguards. We handle all personal data in accordance with UK GDPR. We never sell your data, and we never share it with advertisers.

Do I still need a solicitor?

For straightforward estates, many people find a DIY will sufficient. For complex situations — business interests, overseas property, trusts, or blended families — we'd always recommend seeking independent legal advice. If any of these apply to you, we'd recommend getting advice before you sign.

Who can witness my will?

Any two adults who are not named as beneficiaries in your will, and are not married to or in a civil partnership with a beneficiary. We include a detailed witness guide with your completed will so you get this right first time.
