01 What are cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let a site remember information about your visit — such as your preferences or whether you've seen a banner before — and are widely used to make websites work, or work more effectively, as well as to provide reporting information.
"Similar technologies" covers things like local storage, which some browsers use in place of cookies for the same purposes described in this policy.
02 Cookies we use
The Simply Will website uses strictly necessary storage, plus one privacy-friendly analytics tool — nothing that requires your consent:
| Name | Purpose | Type & duration |
|---|---|---|
| loops-form-timestamp | Set when you submit the waitlist sign‑up form, so we can prevent accidental duplicate submissions if you click submit more than once in quick succession. | Local storage, held on your device until you clear it or submit again after 60 seconds. |
| Fathom Analytics | Helps us understand overall site traffic — for example, which pages are visited and which channels send people to the site — so we can improve it. | No cookie or local storage is set. Fathom identifies visits using a signature generated from technical request data (not stored on your device), which is discarded and regenerated every 24 hours. It cannot be used to track you individually or across visits. |
We do not use advertising, retargeting, or cross‑site tracking cookies of any kind, and we never sell data collected via cookies, local storage, or analytics.
Why there's still no cookie banner
Fathom Analytics is built specifically to avoid cookies and persistent identifiers — it reports on aggregate traffic (visits, pages, referrers, general location) without ever building a profile of you or storing anything on your device. Because nothing is stored or accessed on your device, this doesn't trigger the consent requirement under UK PECR, so no cookie banner is needed even though we now use analytics.
03 Third-party cookies
Some pages load web fonts from Google Fonts as part of the page design. This involves a request to Google's servers to fetch the font files, which is a normal part of how the page loads, but does not set a tracking cookie or track you across other websites.
Fathom Analytics (our analytics provider) does not set any cookies on your device either — see above.
04 Managing your choices
Because nothing we use requires consent, there's nothing to opt in or out of. If you'd still like to clear the local storage used by the waitlist form, you can do so at any time through your browser's settings (usually under "Clear browsing data" or "Site settings").
Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies and local storage generally. Doing so won't affect the Simply Will app, which is separate and does not rely on website storage.
05 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Please review it periodically.
